Artist Statement
Through art, people can express themselves and say things they can’t put into words. Things like their feelings, dreams, political views, etc. For me, art is an escape from what is going on around me—a form of escape from the grindstone. I primarily work in digital media and was trained as a graphic designer. I got into it as I was studying game design. Many of the projects were geared to graphic design. Looking back, those projects are the most fun I’ve had. Every time I do a new project, I always have that same feeling. I enjoyed it because you had so much control over the whole project. Everything comes so naturally for me using the software. The software I enjoy using is Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. However, it's also fun to try new software and learn how they work. My favorite things to design are t-shirts and logos. Later, I grew fond of working with charcoal and acrylic paint. Especially when the subject matter is a landscape or a still life, it's just so calming to draw and paint a landscape. However, I still enjoy working with other media, such as ceramics.
There is a lot of joy to be had in working with different materials. I also learned about new ways of doing art. People can know more about themselves and their work by learning new things and studying art history. I love pop art, and many of the things I'm interested in creating are mostly inspired by that love. Some of my paintings are also Impressionesc in style. Art is my passion, and I like to open the art world to others who view it less than other subjects. It's such a great time to create things with your hand; it even has a rewarding feeling. Art can open a whole new world for a person.
